H20 Hyrostatic Release For Life Rafts SOLAS

Activated by water pressure, the H20 HRU will ensure that a life raft floats free from a sinking vessel when its operation is triggered at a release depth of between approximately 1.5 and 4 meters. A white strong rope is secured to the deck or life raft cradle and attached to the life raft lashing with a slip hook. If the ship sinks, water pressure will, within four meters, activate a sharp knife that cuts the white strong rope. The life raft will then float free. As the ship sinks, the life raft painter line will be stretched and the life raft will start to inflate. The Red Weak Line will then break and survivors can board the floating life raft. The Hammar® H20 HRU needs no annual service, no maintenance and no spare parts but it must be replaced within two years of being installed onboard.
